The wildebeest & zebra migration takes place across the “endless plains” of the Serengeti & the rolling golden grasslands of the Masai Mara.

Migration
Migration of wildebeest...nature's spectacle

The migration begins during March on the short grass plains of the Southern Serengeti.

The wildebeest and zebra herds gradually move northwards through the Moru kopjes, Seronera and the Western Corridor to cross the Grumeti river during June. Generally, the herds split into two major movements: one moving through the Western Corridor and the Grumeti reserve, and the other moving directly northwards through Lobo. Both the groups meet up in the Kogatende area of the Northern Serengeti towards the End of July. They then cross the crocodile infested Mara river and into the Masai Mara. From the Northern Serengeti side of the Mara river, you can see some spectacular and very big river crossings.

The herds spread right across the rich golden short grass plains of the Masai Mara and encounter two rivers: the Talek and the Mara (once again). They remain in the Mara and the adjoining private conservancies generally for the months of August, September and October.

You can witness some magical river crossings and crocodiles taking down hapless wildebeest or zebras from both the Northern Serengeti and the Masai Mara.

We invite you to experience our memorable migration safari combining the pristine Northern Serengeti and the wondrous Masai Mara or its private conservancies where you can enjoy very private exclusive game viewing. Our selected camps will be in the heart of the migration action within minutes of the Mara or Talek rivers or in the privacy of exclusive conservancies. The camps are exclusive, situated in the best game viewing areas with the best guiding.
